The Threaded Tail — Dog Clothing Brand Identity

The Threaded Tail is a nautical themed dog clothing brand designed for a client looking to launch a line geared toward larger breeds, with a look that would appeal equally to men and women. She wanted the brand to feel luxurious and timeless, avoiding the cutesy, feminine-leaning aesthetic so common in the pet space in favor of something that would feel at home on a lake or seaside. To achieve that, I built the primary mark around a nautical flag with the clients own dog’s profile worked into its silhouette, adding a sentimental aspect to the logo. I paired that with a script-and-serif wordmark and a "First Class Dogwear" tagline that is a nod to travelling coast to coast with your dog dressed as well as their owner. The palette draws from classic flag colors including navy, brick red, and gold, rounded out with cream and a soft sky blue, lending to the brand reading as rich and seasoned rather than bright or novelty-driven. A circular badge with the brands name and the dogs silhoutte layered using different variations of the color palette extend the identity across smaller applications like tags and packaging. The fonts chosen, Playfair Display SC and Montserrat, keep the brand feeling timeless yet refined and modern. The supporting moodboard, rooted in coastal Americana — sailboats, vintage postage stamps, denim, and lighthouse scenery — grounds the whole system in an upscale, nautical lifestyle built to last rather than chase trends.

Eliza Harwell — Author Brand Identity

As a romance author, my client wanted to create a brand identity that centered around “windows into the heart” that would appeal to an audience of all ages. The primary mark features an arched, stained glass-esque window silhouette dotted with hearts, a nod to both the romance genre and the idea of a story as a view into someone's inner world. The system was built out across a primary logo, secondary logo, submark, and favicon, each scaling down cleanly for use on websites, social media, business cards, and merchandise. The palette blends warm blush and terracotta tones with a deep teal and charcoal for contrast, giving the brand a romantic but grounded feel rather than something overly saccharine. Typography pairs a unique, bold display serif for headlines and titles with a softer, rounded serif for body copy and sub-headlines, balancing drama with readability. The final deliverable was a complete brand sheet covering logo variations on different backgrounds, color codes, type specimens, and supporting design elements including a quote treatment and newsletter callout style. The sheet gives the author a consistent, ready-to-use system across her website, marketing, and print materials.
